To jump start job creation across the nation, the president’s Council on Jobs and Competiveness is recommending five policy initiatives. They are the following:
1) Accelerated investment in infrastructure and energy projects.
2) Program to support entrepreneurship and help young, fast growing firms.
3) A national initiative to boost foreign investment in the

When Adrienne Green was laid off from her job at an electrical supplier and couldn't land a new job in the recession, she began a journey that would offer unforeseen opportunities.
Green, 36, of St. Louis had started to learn more about energy-efficient lighting before she was laid off in March 2009 from recession-battered Crescent Electric Supply. She had attended a lighting training course at General Electric in Ohio, and she enjoyed the course. But when her job evaporated, Green didn't give the idea of energy efficiency much more thought because she was too busy job hunting and trying to provide for her five children.
OBAMS SIGNS EXECUTIVE DIVERSITY ORDER
President Obama has signed an executive order directing federal officials to design and implement a government-wide strategy for making the federal government workforce more diverse. The executive three-page-order directs the head of the Office of Personnel Management, a deputy director at the Office of Management and Budget, the president’s management Council and the chairman of the Equal Employment opportunity Commission to develop the strategy within 90 days. The order was signed August 19, 2011. After the 90 days, the agencies will then have 120 days to work the plan into their hiring and recruiting.
